Braided hairstyles are some that are going to be very popular this year, and braids are always flattering for any woman. Braided looks aren’t just for the runway; the braid has been around for centuries, and it’s easy to get an awesome look right at home.
Trendy Braids for 2010
If you are attending an event where you need to be casual, yet you want to still look great, consider wearing milkmaid braids. Milkmaid braids are made when you brush your hair out, and braid your bangs, side bangs, and part of your hair one either side. Pull the braids back and secure them behind your head. This is an attractive look that will suit any woman and you can easily dress the braids up with attractive accessories such as flowers or ribbons. If you want, you can braid the rest of your hair down your back, letting the side braids join with that braid to give you a beautiful, clean look.
Braided Bun
A braided bun is perfect for formal occasions. With this style, you simply put your hair into a ponytail, either high up on your head, or about midway up. Braid the ponytail, securing the end with an elastic. Now simply wrap the braid around the base like you would any other bun, and secure with pins. This look is sexy, pretty, and is easy to dress up. You can add flowers, ribbons braided with your hair, or even jeweled pins to give you a glamorous look perfect for any formal or semi-formal affair.

Before you raise you hair up, consider your face shape. If you are going to pull the hair up all the way into a bun, then you will want to have an oval or heart shaped face because it will be very flattering. A more modern and fun look can also be created by putting the bun to the side of your head. This look is still an ‘up’ style with a modern twist! Your hair looks like a beautiful flower if it is done right. But for women with really thick hair, you will look like you are hiding a softball in the flower, so this look may not be for you. You will have to experiment a little before you are sure, but take some chances and see if the braided bun works for you!
