Mohawk Hairstyles for Girls

Mohawk Hairstyles for Girls

Mohawk hairstyle is one trendy hairstyle for both guys and girls. From the American Indians who first sported this hairstyle to the young punk rockers of this age, the Mohawk hairstyle is a way to look different and attract attention. It is a unique but stylish haircut where the hair on the sides is cut, even shaved and a band of hair is left at the middle of the crown. The band extends from the front to the nape. The most distinguishing characteristics of this hairstyle is the cut or shaved side. If the sides are not cut or even shaved then it is not a Mohawk hairstyle.
There are different types of Mohawk hairstyle both for guys and girls depending on how punky a guy or girl wants to look. The most common Mohawk hairstyles are mostly for short or medium length hair. There are however some women or girls who sport a long Mohawk hairstyle that is totally unique and very attention-grabber. Here are three types of Mohawk Hairstyles:

Long & Pointy – this Mohawk hairstyle is for long hair.

Short & Spiky – this type of Mohawk haircut style is for short hair and is achieved by cutting the sides and shaping the short top hair also into spiky pointy strands.

Horses’ Mane - this type of Mohawk hairdo resembles the helmets worn by the Roman gladiators in some vintage movies or as the name indicates, like the mane of a horse flowing down the hire’s back. The only difference is that Mohawk hair is worn on the head. This is for medium length hair that is cut/shaved on the sides with a wide band of hair running from the front to the nape in spiky strands.

Hairstyles to Match Glasses

Hairstyles to Match Glasses 2011 Tips

When choosing a hairstyle there are other factors to think about other than your hair to ensure that you get the best results for your chosen hairstyle – the shape of your face, your make-up, clothes, accessories and if you’re wearing glasses your glasses or the frame of your glasses. Wearing glasses, and taking them on and off surely messes up a hairstyle making it difficult to maintain a fabulous hairdo. But there are ways to team up your glasses with your hairstyle, you only need to learn how.

When you visit your hairstylist, bring your glasses with you to make sure that your hairstyle will harmonize with your glasses. Here is the rule: when your glasses have soft frames choose a bold look, when your glasses have bold frames choose a soft look.

If you are wearing bangs, make sure that it is well maintained. Bangs go very well with glasses but bangs should be kept above the glasses for a neat look. Bangs are great with light frames so stay away from frames that are too large or too heavy or dark.

The color of the frame of your glasses should also match or complement your hair color. For brown hair, metal or dark frames will look good, for light hair, particularly blond hair light or metal frames will be best while redheads can get away with any color apart from yellow or white.
Hairstyles or hair cut should be kept in balance with the glass frame. Hairstyles that require pulling hair away from the face or hairstyle that provides volume will have to be brought in line with the additional attention that glasses draw to your face. Glasses can be used to either draw attention to or deflect attention from the hairstyle. Short hairstyles are the ideal hairstyle to flaunt your glasses. On the other hand, hairstyles that draw the hair off the face will complement any type of frame. For hairstyle with bangs, sweeping bangs to the side will keep the hair away from the frame. While a side part matched with square glass frames will be flattering. Photo Copyright of PR PHOTOS

Ponytail for the Prom Night

Big Ponytail for the Prom Night

The big pony tail is all the rage as a prom hairstyle this year 2011. This hairstyle was popularized by Madonna in the 1980’s when she wore a big high ponytail to the 1985 AMA Awards. This year the big ponytail is back but adapted to the current trend to make it more modern. Now the big ponytail can be worn either at the top of the head close to the crown or in between the crown and the nape with tresses flowing out into large striking ruffled and puffed locks. The big ponytail is a great hairstyle for the prom, it is sophisticated, stylish but at the same time youthful and easy to style to boot. Here is how to create the big ponytail low at the nape with side – swept bangs for the prom:

• Shampoo your hair with lukewarm water with a shampoo product best suited for your hair. If your hair is chemically treated use a product that will enhance the color and add moisture and texture to your hair.

• Rinse the shampoo from your hair and apply a rinse-out conditioner. Massage your scalp with the conditioner and remove the tangle from your hair with a wide tooth comb.

• Rinse the rinse-out conditioner from your hair with cold water to retain its moisture and to add gloss or sheen.

• Take out the excess moisture from your hair by patting it gently with a thick towel.

• When your hair is no longer dripping wet, apply styling products such as a mousse, a leave-in conditioner, or a styling cream to the ends and middle sections of the hair. You can use several styling product to achieve the desired result.

• Section hair into 6 to 8 equal sections. The perfect sectioning is; 4 sections at the back and two sections each per side.

• If you prefer to have side bangs, part the hair on the desired side and get a small section of hair for the side bangs. Blow dry the bangs separate from the rest of the hair
• Blow dry each of the 6-8 section separately to straighten the hair with the use of a boar bristle hairbrush and the blow dryer set to cool low speed
• When the hair is entirely dry, section it out again into 6 to 8 sections.

• To give the hair body, spray it with a voluminizing formula before rolling each section into hot rollers. Remove the rollers when the hair is totally dry.

• Comb the side-swept bangs to the front and pull the rest of the hair back to form a low ponytail with an elastic band at the base of the head or close to the nape.

• To achieve the required fullness and height, back comb a one or two inch thick section of hair from the ponytail and repeat the process until all the hair in the ponytail has been backcombed and the desired height and fullness is achieved.

• Lightly tease the front bangs and smooth it down to gently sweep low across the forehead

• To add gloss and shine to the finished ponytail hairstyle, spray some shine or gloss solution on your palm and gently rub it on the hair.

Teased Hairstyles

Teased Hairstyles

So you’ve learned how to tease your hair and you are thinking about what styles you can do with teased hair. But you’re drawing a blank and you really, really want to try something new. So the question is—how exactly do you go about finding what teased hairstyles that you can do? Here are two examples of teased hairstyles:

Teased Hairstyle by Paris Hilton

First of all, you have the rockabilly. The rockabilly is a kind of chic, kind of grungy look, but it can work for everyone from the girliest girl to those who are not so girly. First, you need to take your top layer of hair from the crown back and tease it into a poof. Sounds simple enough. Next, you need to use a brush in order to smooth that part of your hair so that it doesn’t look like a rat’s nest. Afterwards, take the time to style your hair the way you want. You can curl the remainder, put waves in it, or you can leave it in its natural state, whatever that may be and then put it in a ponytail.

Then there is the scene hairstyle. Comb your bangs forwards and to the side. From the crown back, tease your hair up into a poof of whatever poofiness that you desire. Tease down a tiny bit from the crown and then continue to comb downward to smooth. Smooth the poof as well, being careful to get the bottom part of the poof really well, since they are prone to sticking up/showing the teased part. Photos Copyright of PR PHOTOS
